Dryad

I dressed up for a theme party this week and decided I liked being a tree and wore it for another day. Sands Leavitt’s Sehkmet dress is just the right shape and size for my leafy limbs. It has taken me forever to realize that Alia Baroque’s fabulous fantasy skins now come with Omega appliers. There are no words to express my happiness about this. This one is called Fleurs and was the perfect fit for my night out as a dryad.

#51 Calysta – Protectress of Mankind

Hello Pretty Girls!!!

My time as a SL Vogue Modeling and Photography student is coming to a close! It’s been a long (and tiring at times) journey, but I can definitely say that I learned a lot! For the final project, for my photography class, we had to research Greek goddesses and create our version of a goddess. Along with creating an image, we also had to come up with a story along with it. For my goddess, I was originally inspired by a post I saw on modelsjourney.wordpress.com and from there, my goddess evolved to this:

Earth_006

The Look:

Headpiece | Boudoir – Planet Earth

Top/Bottom | Caverna Obscura – Grape Vines Dryad Outfit

Bracelet | Wicca’s Wardrobe – Spring Ivy Bracelet

Petals | aDORKable Poses – Petals in the Wind

Eyeshadow | Boudoir – Closed Eyes Makeup

My Story:

Calysta – Goddess of Life, Healing, and Reincarnation; Protectress of Mankind

In the beginning, Gaia, the primal Greek Mother Goddess, gave birth to all creation. She created the light, the darkness, land, seas, animals, and plants. Out of Love, she forged mankind out of fire, water, and earth, and breathed life into them. She smiled down at her creation and watched her children grow and flourish.

As her children began to multiply and their needs grew, Gaia decided it was time to create additional divine beings to love, protect, and guide them. To start, she created Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. Gaia, named her favorite son Zeus, King of the Gods. She stressed to him how important her humans were to her and charged him with the responsibility teach the other gods her way. She wanted all the gods and goddesses to have mankind’s best interest at heart at all times. Over time, many different gods and goddess were born and all of them were under Zeus’ eternal rule. As his empire strengthened, Zeus’ pride grew tremendously and he began lose sight of his purpose. As a result, he began to control over his subjects and the world. Many gods and goddesses became jealous of each other, started wars on Earth in their name, and some even hated the humans, causing death and destruction.

Gaia was saddened at the sight of her ruined creation and she knew she could not stand by any longer. Her earthly children needed a new divine being to pray to; one who truly loved them, and wanted the best for them. So, she decided to create one last goddess. She broke a piece of her heart and breathed life into it to create Calysta. She blessed her with the power of life, healing, and reincarnation, and with a kiss on her forehead, she named her Protectress of all Mankind. In order to guard Calysta from the corruption of the other gods, she forbade her to live in Olympus. Instead, Gaia picked up the earth and placed it on top of her head as reminder of her purpose. The stars in the universe acted as Gaia’s eyes, as she kept an close eye on her beloved Calysta, the last hope for mankind.

Thick branches grew from the young goddesses head and cradled the Earth, acting as a barrier from harm. Through love, kindness, and healing, Calysta helped to restore order and balance in the Earth. Over time, mankind fell in love with the goddess and prayed to her fervently. Their prayers granted them healing from sickness and disease, fertility, bountiful harvests, and the gift of reincarnation. Gaia smiled; she has found peace and joy again.

I hope you all liked my goddess, styling, and fictional story. I absolutely LOVE greek mythology, so I had a ton of fun creating this look. Thats all for now! <3
